Why is this beauty not doing any Live8?
Saturday's on your mind
Neil Young, Cherubs, Fear Factory

Young at Live8 Canada

If it was anyone other than Neil Young, we'd question the Live8 Canada organizers for enlisting another veteran to perform with critics calling for younger musicians instead.

But the promise of Canada's favourite grunge godfather at the 02 July benefit is a sure sign that the 59-year-old has fully recovered from his recent brain aneurysm and the death of his father.

Young's late addition to Saturday's concert was first reported by CTV.ca on Tuesday and the rock icon has already been promised the coveted final performance spot of the day-long event. He will be accompanied by the Fisk University Jubilee Choir for his finale.

No stranger to benefit gigs, Young performed in Philadelphia at the original Live Aid with Crosby, Stills And Nash in 1985. He was one of the founders of Farm Aid and remains on their board of directors to this day.

Young last made headlines in May when he was in Nashville, busy recording the follow-up to his latest record, 2003's Greendale.

Canada's leg of Live8 will be held in Barrie, Ontario. Other performers include The Tragically Hip, Blue Rodeo, Our Lady Peace and Motley Crue. Other concerts will be held in London, Paris, Rome, Berlin, Philadelphia, Tokyo, Africa and recently announced Moscow.

Hyde Park addition [and it ain't Live8]

Cherubs have been added to the tonight's lineup of Wireless Festival, Drowned In Sound Stage, Hyde Park, London [Thursday, 30 June 2005], with Kasabian headling.

Angelic indie punksters Cherubs are going to be demonstrating their own brand of catchy fuzzed-up 80's indie-trash, it's a great opportunity to catch these 5 young lads on home turf in London, at the start of their summer onslaught of festival dates.

The band are promoting their forthcoming new single Man of No Importance which is released through Cargo Records on 08 August.

Fear Factory’s ‘Transgression’

Fear Factory’s next cyber-rocking instalment entitled ‘Transgression’ is due out on 22 August.

It is said that the aptly named ‘Transgression’ sees Fear Factory at their finest.

In addition to the standard album, the record will be available as a limited edition pack with bonus DVD featuring 3 music videos and the 'making of the album documentary'.

"2005 is the year of ‘Transgression’ for Fear Factory!"
