Coldplay's 'X&Y' - album of the millennium

Coldplay's new album 'X&Y' is set to become the fastest selling British album of the Millennium after going on sale yesterday (06 June '05).
The band's third disc is estimated to have sold a staggering 100,000 copies during its first day on release in the UK - and experts predict the band will have sold a further 400,000 copies by the end of the week.

Gennaro Castaldo, a spokesperson for UK music retailer HMV, says, "We haven't seen anything like this since Oasis released 'Be Here Now' in 1997. The excitement around 'X&Y' is incredible and has been building for quite some time."

"The band certainly haven't disappointed - either critically or commercially. We're already looking at the biggest-selling album of the year by a long way."

Coldplay's chart rivals Oasis' sixth album 'Don't Believe The Truth' is this year's biggest selling CD in the UK, moving 130,000 copies in two days following its release last Monday (30 May '05) - but 'X&Y' will sail past that total by the time shops shut today.

Auditions will be held in Memphis, New York, London, Madrid, Munich, Moscow, Sydney, Tokyo, Beijing, Honolulu and Mexico City.

The winner will record the song 'If I'd Only Bought Her Roses', co-written by Elvis but never released.

The search for the new Elvis will be turned into a 16 part television series which will air later this year.

Tony Braxton: return of a mature babe

Grammy award winner Tony Braxton has completed her sixth studio album. Entitled 'Libra', the album was produced by Scott Storch (Beyonce, Snoop Dogg). The video for the single 'Please' was directed by Chris Robinson (Jay-Z, Alicia Keys).

Braxton released her last album 'More Than A Woman' in 2002 but then switched to stage shows and appeared in 'Aida' in 2003 to allow herself time to look after her two young children with husband, Keri Lewis.

She was also plagued with health problems in recent years after being diagnosed with Pericarditis, a heart ailment. She is now fully recovered and has become a spokesperson for the American Heart Association.

As well as releasing 'Libra', Toni will also be seen soon in three episodes of the UPN show 'Kevin Hill'
